ACT OUT CLOSING: CircEAU Spring Circus Shows Today at 1pm & 4pm #circesteem #circus arts

CircEAU Atlantis 11am Sat 4-20-13 (Full set) by Bonnie Kenaz-Mara for ChiILMama.com

Final 2 shows are TODAY, Sunday 4/28 at 1pm & 4pm.   Don't miss this rockin' all ages, water themed circus arts show.   Last weekend's 3 Atlantis shows SOLD OUT.   This weekend the show is Bermuda Triangle and it showcases more of the advanced classes and the talented circus team.

"Wacky" water adventures infuse both CircEAU shows, Atlantis and Bermuda Triangle!

All ages will enjoy the flippin' fantastic acts!

Ever seen unicycle jump rope?!

We've been part of the CircEsteem family for close to 3 years now and highly recommend their shows and their classes.  These guys are the real deal... a genuinely great non profit, talented teachers, and creative, motivated kids.

Click here for more info about their fabulous circus arts SUMMER CAMP, BIRTHDAY PARTIES and the next session of classes starting up.

Giant fun with CircEAU Atlantis on 4-20!
 Highly recommended.

CircEsteem used to take 7 year olds through high schoolers, with some adult classes as well.   They have recently added circus tots classes for younger kids and they're a HUGE hit.  The first show last Saturday at 11am showcased the littles as penguins and seals and they were TOO cute.

CircEsteem is a welcoming, nurturing program for beginning through advanced circus arts.   Aerial arts are the next best thing to flying!

My kids have both taken classes in trapeze and silks and LOVE it.

Mermaid Sage, Atlantis CircEAU

Sage has also taken Chinese Pole, Lyra (*see her in the middle above as an ariel mermaid!), and Spanish Web.

Here are all the team kids and those they're grooming as future team performers "pre-team prep" including my two.

Ahoy Maties... Adventures abound whether you're walking the tight rope or walking the plank!!

CircEsteems' great for building pyramids and friendships.

These kids can juggle too!

Don't miss The Trash Monster!   If you haven't caught CircEsteem's spring shows yet, GO ALREADY!   If you're overbooked or outta town, check back with ChiIL Mama like we vote in Chi, IL... early and often.   We'll have loads of video recaps from both weekends of the Circ Shows, and more fun stills comin' your way.   But nothing compares to being there.

A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH Debut New Song on Noisecreep #metal #freestreaming

Lay My Soul to Waste Available May 21st on Steamhammer/SPV

Chill Live Shows got a press preview of the whole album and our initial gut reaction was great.  Several of the track are out now, so check it out and see what you think.   We've been DIY busting out plaster & lathe and drywalling a room, and this was an excellent sonic assault to accompany the work.  We need to spend a bit more time with the new material to be objective, and we'll have a full review up shortly.

A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH will release their sophomore album Lay My Soul to Waste May 21st in North America on Steamhammer/SPV. Once again the artwork was commissioned by Sam Shearon, who is also responsible for artwork on the band's first release And Hell Will Follow Me.

Today the band has teamed up with Noisecreep to debut another track from from Lay My Soul to Waste entitled "Killer By Night". Get a first listen to the song HERE.

Revolver Magazine is streaming the track "Shallow Grave" HERE.

On the surface, A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH are impressive. But you'll want to dig deeper and immerse yourself in all the sonic and lyrical layers, because the band isn't afraid to plume the depths of darkness that humanity is capable of. It's murky stuff, but someone has to do it.

Sal Abruscato and Matt Brown have followed 2011's incredible introduction And Hell Will Follow Me with Lay My Soul to Waste, which keeps the band's patented signature formula of slow, deliberate sludge and head-down doom intact and as flawlessly executed as ever.
Think Alice in Chains, only harder, angrier and with a more perverse view of the world, as if they were reared in a row house in Bensonhurst, as opposed to the rainy landscape of Seattle, all the while feasting on a steady diet of Black Sabbath records.

A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH arrived with And Hell Will Follow Me. They have firmly implanted their roots in the metal scene with Lay My Soul to Waste. It's a metal album that headbangers who enjoy a walk on the darker side of life will end up revering and responding to.

Lay My Soul to Waste can be pre-ordered on Amazon on both CD and LP.

Lay My Soul to Waste Tracklisting:
1) Lay My Soul to Waste
2) Shallow Grave
3) The Needle in You
4) In the Sleeping Death
5) Killer by Night
6) Growing Old
7) Dead of Winter
8) Devil Came With a Smile

Anything Goes

Theatre : Cadillac Palace Theatre, Chicago Illinois
Dates : April 23, 2013 - May 05, 2013

"ALL ABOARD for this saucy and splendid production of Roundabout Theatre Company's ANYTHING GOES, winner of three 2011 Tony Awards® including Best Musical Revival and Choreography! One of the greatest musicals in theater history, Cole Porter's first-class musical comedy is sailing to Chicago, starring critically-acclaimed actress Rachel York as Reno Sweeney and directed and choreographed by Tony Award® winner Kathleen Marshall. The New York Times calls it "Musical-Comedy Joy" and USA Today hails it as "Glorious and Exhuberant!" When the S.S. American heads out to sea, etiquette and convention get tossed out the portholes as two unlikely pairs set off on the course to true love?proving that sometimes destiny needs a little help from a crew of singing sailors, an exotic disguise and some good old-fashioned blackmail. Peppering this timeless classic are some of musical theatre's most memorable standards, including "I Get A Kick Out Of You," "You're the Top," and of course, "Anything Goes." Don't miss what the AP exclaims as, "So Delightful, So Delicious, So De-Lovely!"

Packed with memorable tunes, Cole Porter's Anything Goes has embarked on a national tour following its Tony-winning Broadway revival in 2011. The timeless tale of boy-meets-girl -- and the roller coaster ride that follows -- showcases Porter's signature wit and masterful composition with songs like "I Get a Kick Out of You" and "You're the Top." The show centers on Billy Crocker (Erich Bergen), who's hopelessly in love with a wealthy heiress. When he sees her boarding a boat to London, he throws caution to the wind and becomes a stowaway. Madcap hijinks ensue when his fellow passengers, including sexy evangelist-turned-nightclub-singer Reno Sweeney (played by Broadway vet Rachel York) and second-rate gangster Moonface Martin (Fred Applegate of Sister Act and Young Frankenstein), decide to help Billy win his true love.

ACT OUT CLOSING: American Idiot #review

American Idiot is Hair for the next generation.   There's a lovable band of misfits, a tragic enlistment storyline,

drug use, an inditement of capitalist America, and a celebration of individuality.

We also dug the side thread about the accidental pregnancy and the social commentary on how much having an infant changes your rock n roll lifestyle.

With a rockin' sound track of Greenday hits, Two Tony Awards, and a 2010 Grammy for Best Musical Show Album, it's certainly worth catching.    Chicago's own Northwestern student, Alex Nee, stars.

There's even some fun, wire work!

Of course there are theatre fanatics out there who will only see the A list celeb Broadway shows, but we've seen some seriously sweet touring shows that just blew through town for a week or two.   The sets and costumes are still top notch and despite the fact that there aren't huge draw, famous names in the cast, there's certainly talent and charm.    The touring shows have heart, youthful energy, and the glitz and drama Broadway musicals are renowned for.

It's always a treat to see a show at the ornate Cadillac Palace.   My kids like to play rorschach test with the marble walls and find hidden creatures.   Their fav is "the elephant" at the top of the stairs to the basement in the front, left side of the lobby.

Tickets start at just $18 and half price day of show tickets, or discounts through Hot Tixs or Goldstar are often available.

So go already.
