Chicago's Own Jason Narducy Back With New Band Split Single #NewRelease #SXSW

SPLIT SINGLE ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE OF FRAGMENTED WORLD 4/1; ALBUM TRAILER, SXSW, RELEASE SHOW

“Watching Jason was the first time I thought I could start my own band, and write my own kind of music....Jason totally set my life in this new direction. It wasn’t a Jimmy Page or KISS poster I had – it was fuckin’ him!”-- Dave Grohl

“Jason’s been doin’ the rock since he was a snot-nosed little punk. And I can attest from his work with me on the road that he’s got it down. And it’s not going to stop any time soon.”-- Robert Pollard

“I’m used to hearing Jason making me sound better, but it’s funny and familiar as well to hear his voice standing out in front again. I’m a fan of Jason’s work – it’s classic late 20th-century pop music songwriting"--Bob Mould

“Jason is a fan of great songwriters like Pete Townshend, Lennon & McCartney, Bob Mould, Robert Pollard, and Strummer & Jones, so it would only be natural that he’d write such well-crafted, memorable pop songs.”-- Jon Wurster

“I’m always wearing so many hats, so I loved the idea of being in a band where all I do is play bass on someone else’s stuff. I felt like a session musician, which was so cool. Still, I got pretty in depth: there were no preconceptions, which is what collaboration is all about.”--Britt Daniel

Jason Narducy's epic career first started as a co-founder of Verböten – one of the seminal acts in the Chicago punk scene that produced groundbreaking bands like Naked Raygun and Big Black. Narducy then went on to become frontman/songwriter/guitarist for Verbow, another beloved Windy City outfit who signed a major-label deal with Epic/Sony during the ‘90s alt-rock bubble. He followed that up with an ongoing, nearly decade-long run as indie-rock’s secret weapon – serving as bassist and backing vocalist for indie-underground icons like Bob Mould, Robert Pollard, and Superchunk, as well as Seattle’s indie power-pop faves Telekinesis.

Now, Narducy is returning to center stage as a bandleader with Fragmented World – the debut album from Split Single. A new project formed with fellow travelers Britt Daniel (Spoon, Divine Fits) on bass and drummer Jon Wurster (Superchunk, Mountain Goats, Bob Mould, Ben Gibbard, Robert Pollard), Split Single proves equal parts solo project and collective. The material on Fragmented World ultimately spans the breadth of Narducy’s history while artfully exploring a gamut of styles and emotions in ways he’s never approached before.

Split Single will be touring on this album, and Jason will be at SXSW (with touring band Ben Trokan of Reigning Sound and Tim Remis). The band's record release will be in Chicago at Schubas on April 5th.

This year has been an impressive one for the Nashville five-piece, who released their Jay Joyce (Cage the Elephant, Emmylou Harris)-produced debut album August 13th via Warner Bros Records. They have played well over 200 shows, with Gary Clark Jr, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Dawes, Dwight Yoakam and ZZ Ward,.and more, and stopped at the Austin City Limits festival,  San Francisco's Outside Lands, Sasquatch and Hangout Festivals, Milwaukee's Summerfest, Louisville's Forecastle Festival and Nashville's Live on the Green. The Wild Feathers performed their acclaimed single "The Ceiling," which the Minneapolis Star Tribune called "perhaps the most elegantly crafted song of the year" on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Conan and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and the track just won the Sirius Spectrum Award for Best Song Discovery.

Amazon has selected The Wild Feathers for their "Rising Stars of 2014" campaign, which runs from December 25th to January 31stThe program features a free download of the band's new single "Got It Wrong," which they performed on Rachael Ray December 10th.

Critical response to The Wild Feathers has been effusive. Rolling Stone declared the album "something that fans of heartland artists like the Avett Brothers and My Morning Jacket will appreciate while it recalls the magic of Tom Petty and Neil Young," Relix called it "boisterous and impassioned, reverberating with a raw, live quality," Baeble Music said, "Electrifying, soul stirring, and utterly reverent rock and roll...they're The Wild Feathers and they're pretty much here to kick your ass," and  the NY Daily News gave the album four stars, declaring "the Feathers have the vulnerability and beauty of the Jayhawks...the chemistry they found has the 'eureka' effect of the great American harmony-rock bands, from Buffalo Springfield to Poco."

“MGMT-esque spacey psych pop, and ethereal vocal pitter-patter with ease.” —Pitchfork

“A group on the up-and-up that may end up in your iTunes regular rotation before you know it.” —Huffington Post

The self-titled debut EP from acclaimed LA-based band Wildcat! Wildcat! is set for September 10 release on Downtown Records. The band garnered critical praise for their previously released sold-out limited addition 7” on the taste-making label Neon Gold Records, including early support from BBC Radio 1 in the U.K. TIME raves, “I love the staccato electronic rock, I love the frantic opening measures, I love the fleeting falsetto in the background,” while Metro furthers they’re “the best overall new band.” To celebrate the release, the band will embark on a nationwide tour starting in September including select dates with MSMR. See below for details.

Taco Bell’s Feed the Beat music program have released a new documentary titled “Hello Everywhere.” Directed by Sam Jones, the film follows Wildcat! Wildcat! and Passion Pit throughout SXSW 2013, documenting their experiences at the festival—one as an emerging, developing band and the other as a more established band.

The new EP was written and produced by the band in their home studios over the course of the last year and a half.

Of the songs Jesse Carmichael (vocals, drums) notes, “Some came quicker than others but all of them provided us the time to try out different processes of collaboration and understand how and why we make the kind of music that we make together.” See below for full track listing.

Wildcat! Wildcat! is Jesse Taylor (vocals, bass), Michael Wilson (vocals, keys) and Carmichael. The trio played together in various incarnations before officially forming Wildcat! Wildcat! in 2012. The band has toured extensively including SXSW, a sold out west coast headlining run and major U.S. support slots with Alt-J and Portugal. The Man.
