NEW RELEASES: WHOLE NEW LIFE, REVEREND HORTON HEAT'S FIRST ALBUM IN NEARLY 5 YEARS OUT NOW!

REVEREND HORTON HEAT RELEASE
FIRST ALBUM IN NEARLY 5 YEARS
WHOLE NEW LIFE

DEBUT NEW VIDEO “HOG TYIN’ WOMAN”
Midnight, Texas TV Performance Airs December 7
On Tour Now

Here at ChiIL Live Shows, we're celebrating the new album release. We got a press preview link and it's been in heavy rotation on our play list this week. I'm shooting live show photos at REVEREND HORTON HEAT'S Chicago Metro show as well as reviewing the new tunes, so check back soon for our full recap.

Horton's Holiday Hayride is coming to a stage near YOU and features an amazing lineup! Including Reverend Horton HeatJunior Brown Fan PageThe Blasters and Big Sandy of Big Sandy and his Fly-Rite Boys

The foot-stomping hellfire roots of REVEREND HORTON HEAT’s rock 'n' roll stylings are louder than ever with Whole New Life, the brand new album available worldwide today. The band also delivers the second video in the form of the sexy and sultry “Hog Tyin’ Woman.”

As the album hits shelves, the Texas rebels have traveled thousands of miles, playing 13 countries in front of over one million people since the release of 2014’s Rev. Watch the band perform “Hog Tyin’ Woman” on the NBC thriller Midnight, Texas on December 7.

Watch “Hog Tyin’ Woman” Music Video:

“It’s the most positive album I’ve ever done, admits ringleader Jim ‘Reverend’ Heath. “Some of my stuff in the past was dark, maybe too dark. I guess I’m not the awful vindictive jerk I thought I was!”

Recording the album in their hometown of Dallas, Heath says that “Creating Whole New Life brought out something more positive in my storytelling and guitar playing. I also saw a vocal coach to reach notes unheard to the average fan. It's got some Southern feel to it, a bit of gruff and a crooning style to it. Write what you know, that’s what they tell ya in school, right?”

The artwork was created by a pair of rock ‘n’ roll sisters called The Mad Twins, Olya and Vira. These creative designers from the Ukraine also animated ‘Hardscrabble Woman,’ the bands final video from the previous album. “Jim Heath is a real old-school gentleman with a precise taste of 1950’s retro style and an excellent sense of humor,” Vira professes. “Jim gave us a good guide of the songs meanings lyrically and musically so we visualized a 1950’s color style from that era. Call it globalism but isn’t it wild that two Ukrainian female artists are doing American 50’s graphics for a Texas band thirty years into their career? The design, art and music of that time are so powerful because people were doing it all by hand - paintings, clothing, cars, instruments - there were simple and naïve emotions, less vulgarity, straight honesty and sincere love. All that makes up the musical tornado of REVEREND HORTON HEAT.”

Undoubtedly one of the most important and popular rockabilly artists of all time, the legendary Texas troop have genre-hopped their fan base in front of audiences from the Sex Pistols, Johnny Cash, Soundgarden, ZZ Top, Motorhead and tons of other heavy-hitters.

“This tour started around 1986,” Heath chuckles dryly. Performing nearly 200 shows a year, REVEREND HORTON HEAT officially kicked off the Horton’s Holiday Hayride Tour on November 27 in Omaha, NE and will wrap up the year in Birmingham, AL on December 22. As more riotous shows are booked for 2019, Heath cracks, “I’m afraid I’m on the Willie Nelson retirement program, which means I’ll never retire!”

Here at ChiIL Live Shows, we've seen Reverend Horton Heat many times over the years, but I'll have to say my favorite is still Riot Fest 2012 when I had press credentials and got to shoot them from the pit. They always put on an excellent, high energy, live show that's a must see for rockabilly lovers. We have press credentials once again for Wednesday's kick off to the City Winery run, so check back soon for our full review and photo recap.

10/11 - featuring Unknown Hinson w/ special guests Koffin Kats
Loaded guns, space heaters, and big skies. Welcome to the lethal littered landscape of Jim Heath’s imagination. True to his high evangelical calling, Jim is a Revelator, both revealing & reinterpreting the country-blues-rock roots of American music. He’s a time-travelling space-cowboy on an endless interstellar musical tour, and we are all the richer & “psychobillier” for getting to tag along.

Seeing REVEREND HORTON HEAT live is a transformative experience. Flames come off the guitars. Heat singes your skin. There’s nothing like the primal tribal rock & roll transfiguration of a Reverend Horton Heat show. Jim becomes a slicked-back 1950′s rock & roll shaman channeling Screamin’ Jay Hawkins through Buddy Holly, while Jimbo incinerates the Stand- Up Bass. And then there are the “Heatettes”. Those foxy rockabilly chicks dressed in poodle-skirts and cowboy boots slamming the night away. It’s like being magically transported into a Teen Exploitation picture from the 1950′s that’s currently taking place in the future.

Listening to the REVEREND HORTON HEAT is tantamount to injecting pure musical nitrous into the hot-rod engine of your heart. The Reverend’s commandants are simple. And no band on this, or any other, planet rocks harder, drives faster, or lives truer than the Reverend Horton Heat. These “itinerant preachers” actually practice what they preach. They live their lives by the Gospel of Rock & Roll.

From the High-Octane Spaghetti-Western Wall of Sound in “Big Sky” — to the dark driving frenetic paranoia of “400 Bucks” – to the brain-melting Western Psychedelic Garage purity of “Psychobilly Freakout” — The Rev’s music is the perfect soundtrack to the Drive-In Movie of your life.

Jim Heath & Jimbo Wallace have chewed up more road than the Google Maps drivers. For twenty-five Psychobilly years, they have blazed an indelible, unforgettable, and meteoric trail across the globe with their unique blend of musical virtuosity, legendary showmanship, and mythic imagery.

Rev your engines and catch the sermon on the road as it’s preached by everybody’s favorite Reverend.

Mods Vs Rockers Vintage Motorcycle Rally With Rev. Horton Heat, Supersuckers & More

**Kids under 12 FREE with paying adult.**
$10 spectator tickets/outdoor show
$30 Rev Horton Heat/Supersuckers/and more
at Aragon Saturday night

What is Mods vs. Rockers?
Mods vs. Rockers takes its name from the historic clash of rival youth movements in England during the early 1960’s when scooter mounted Mods tangled with motorcycle mounted Rockers. The tensions reached their zenith during the Easter Holiday Weekend in 1964 when riots between the rival gangs broke out in Brighton, no one was seriously injured but many arrests were made and the British press sensationalized the events to mythic proportions. The events were later chronicled in the Who’s 1970’s film ”Quadrophenia”.

Chicago

The Mods vs. Rockers Chicago rally has grown from a few hundred motorcycles in 2005 to one of the largest urban motorcycle events in the country. Friday and Saturday, June 14th & 15th 2013 will mark the 9th annual event. For 2013 Mods vs. Rockers Chicago is moving to Uptown. After eight great years, we have outgrown our North Lincoln Avenue roots and we taking our rally to Lawrence Avenue and the Historic Aragon Ballroom. Our new location offers us many amenities that will allow us to continue to build and expand Mods vs. Rockers Chicago. The Aragon has ample parking that will allows us to take the Motorcycle & Scooter Show safely off-street with room for hundreds of bikes, and separate lots for an expanded Hot Rod Car Show and Vendors Row…and let us not forget the Aragon Ballroom, this beautiful 5000 seat venue allows us to bring in National and International Music acts that will help us elevate our event to a completely new level.

Here at ChiIL Live Shows we've shot both Reverend Horton Heat and The Supersuckers and highly recommend checkin' em out.

Victory Records is honored to announce that THE REVEREND HORTON HEAT has joined the Victory roster.

The Rev comments, “We are very excited to be a Victory band now. Since we are going to get back to doing some edgier stuff, it makes perfect sense to be on Victory. Plus, they are as passionate as we are. Stay tuned for some crazy ideas about our new album. Tony said I'm graduating to Pope. Hallelujah!!!” “Signing a veteran artist of The Reverend Horton Heat’s caliber and reputation coupled with the fact that they are one of the hardest touring rock artists, year after year, is a very exciting way for us to end 2012. A large number of us here have been fans for many years. We very much look forward to working with the band and its longstanding team,” said Victory founder Tony Brummel.

ChiIL Live Shows Photos--Best of The Fest--Riot Fest Sunday

Riot Fest 2012 Sunday Best

We have literally thousands of sweet shots from Riot Fest Friday through Sunday that we're editing through and will bring you soon with full recaps.   For now, here's a little taste of some of our favs from each day--working backwards.   Recognize some famous faces?   We'll be breaking it down by the band later this week.    We shot all the bands in bold.   See if you can match the faces and feet to the following:

The fest was a huge, raging success in the new Humboldt Park digs.   We love it's incarnation as a family friendly, carnival feast for the eyes and ears and hope it becomes an annual tradition.   The park was spacious, shady and ideal for the Riot Fest day shift.   Then the night shows and after parties at all the usual venues kept the fun going well into the morning hours.

We shot loads of pit photos but we also made a point to catch the colorful crowd and especially the punk kin and yute.   If we can walk together why can't we rock together, indeed.   This year with both The Descendants and The Offspring playing....how could we not shoot the actual descendants-offspring- progeny-spawn of the punk parents out there.   We know parents and kids rock and the littles are sometimes the purest punks--anarchy incarnate, live in the moment, endless energy....You get the picture.

We also made a point of shooting the fire spinners, burlesque performers, and circus punks like Environmental Encroachment, and UPPERkase stilt crew.    We even had another fest sighting of Shreddy Shirt Boy (AKA:  Mat with one T) and his twin brother, too!   They were rocking out on drums with an ape, on one of the fenced in mini stages skattered throughout the grounds.   We'll have video footage up soon.

It was like a big family reunion, 30,000 punks strong.   We ran into soooo many good friends.    These are truly our people.   It was great to relax and hear stellar music with some of our favorite friends.

Speaking of familiar faces....we saw Coco Loco for I think the 4th or 5th fest this season, and still couldn't resist their rockin' earrings.   We left with 2 more pairs!!   I've worn two of their pairs of spirals daily for years.   They're very comfortable, fun, and distinctive.   I still get a ton of comments and compliments on them.   Now Sagezilla has a few pairs of her own.   She has black wings, black S shaped earrings made of water buffalo horn, and black spirals inlaid with white triangles.

Check back in with ChiIL Mama like we vote in Chi, IL...early and often for more Riot Fest recaps in the coming weeks, including video and many more photos.   Follow ChiIL Live Shows by e-mail in the right side bar for free downloads, original band video interviews, LIVE show footage, pit photos, tour news, give aways, reviews, and the heads up on great music and theatre coming to town.   Follow ChiIL Mama by e-mail in the right side bar for all ages fun, alt punk parenting tips, loads of kindie music/book/toy reviews and more.

We'll see you out there.
