VILLAGE OF ROSEMONT'S VETERANS DAY CELEBRATION HOSTED BY US99’S RAMBLIN’ RAY MOVED TO ROSEMONT THEATRE MONDAY, NOV. 11

Salute Inc. Honors Three Veterans With Service Award
 
Program includes Navy Band Great Lakes Wind Ensemble and Color Guard Presentation





Rosemont Mayor Brad Stephens today announced that the Village's Veterans Day Celebration has been moved to the Rosemont Theatre, 5400 N. River Road, do to the possibility of inclement weather.  Parking at the theater is free. 

The Village of Rosemont has joined forces with Salute Inc., a non-profit organization that provides financial support for military men and women and their families, to honor U.S. military veterans Monday, Nov. 11, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with an evening filled with patriotic programming including a special award presentation to three of our country’s veterans, including Petty Officer First Class Don Hoskinson who served during World War II and the Korean war; SSGT Air Force Steve Aoyagi who served during the Vietnam War; and Randol Shelton who gave his life while serving in Iraq. Shelton’s family will be accepting the award on his behalf. 

One of the Midwest’s most popular country bands, “Back Country Roads”” will open the event at 5 p.m. Brothers Mark and Jason Sutton of the band “Brother Trouble” will also take the stage to continue the night’s tribute to U.S. veterans.

Rosemont Mayor Brad Stephens will kick off a ceremony to U.S. veterans at 6:30 p.m. beginning with a performance by the Navy Band Great Lakes Wind Ensemble. The ensemble is comprised of 45 professional musicians under the direction of Lieutenant Patrick K. Sweeten.  Founded in 1911 by famous “The Stars and Stripes Forever” composer Lieutenant Commander John Philip Sousa, the band continues to spread the traditional sounds of military music throughout the Midwest.

The program will continue with the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 311 Color Guard’ s magnificent “Presentation of the Colors,” the singing of the National Anthem by Salute Inc.’s Torron Crawford, and a special award presentation from Salute Inc.

Following the ceremony, guests are invited to visit the MB Financial Park at Rosemont, where venues will offer special promotions for veterans, including several that are offering free meals for veterans with military identification that evening.
