ACT OUT OPENING: HOLY BOUNCING BOOBIES! A BATMAN BURLESQUE Opens Midnight June 1

Our favorite hero hotties and sexy sidekicks at Gorilla Tango are back with another playfully fun and creatively quirky geek burlesque show!   ChiIL Live Shows will be there to review opening night.   We love to rock a great theme so we were pretty stoked to recently ride Batman backwards at Great America's media day, and now here's this.   We'll have our coaster antics footage plus our original on site interviews up in the near future.   GT Burlesque shows are a fun date night, girls night out, or girlie night out.

Riddle me this: What pastied production goes bounce in the night?
Answer: HOLY BOUNCING BOOBIES! A BATMAN BURLESQUE, running in the suburbs for the past year, FINALLY opens in Bucktown on Saturday, June 1st (midnight).

Holy parody burlesque Batman! Gorilla Tango Burlesque - known for ribald parodies of nerd-friendly pop-culture topics – brings a taste of the 1960s Batman to Bucktown through its latest parody burlesque show! HOLY BOUNCING BOOBIES! A BATMAN BURLESQUE - which has performed in the suburbs continually since September 2012 - will now open in Bucktown Saturday June 1st.

HOLY BOUNCING BOOBIES will perform Saturdays at 11:59pm at Gorilla Tango Theatre Bucktown (1919 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago Il 60647). 18 and over only; tickets are $28-35 and available for purchase online at www.gorillatango.com or by calling 773-598-4549.

In this campy, sexy and silly parody, Batman and Robin are put to the ultimate test of intellect when they learn that Batgirl has been captured by the reprehensible Riddler! Now the Dynamic Duo must travel through the streets of Gotham to retrieve the Riddler’s clues from all of Batman’s enemies before midnight. Join the Caped Crusaders on this quest, featuring sultry burlesque numbers and a full roster of vile villains (including Catwoman, Two-Face, The Penguin, and even Egghead!)

Writer Jeremy M. Eden quotes, "It's a show that combines three of my favorite things: Batman and boobs. It's the perfect blend of action, satire, and camp. Generations old and new can find humor in it, whether it be a laugh of nostalgia or detached irony. And hopefully it will help people appreciate the oft-maligned series from the 60's."

Adds Director/Choreographer Juicy Lucy (a veteran performer of GTB, including boob-clapping Mola Ram in TEMPLE OF BOOBS: AN INDIANA JONES BURLESQUE, and debonair Han Solo in A NUDE HOPE: A STAR WARS BURLESQUEE) adds “We're so pleased to be opening in Bucktown after our extended run in the suburbs. The costumes (by Kristen Ahern) keep the classic 1960s Batman authenticity while giving it the old burlesque sparkly and sexy spin. Jeremy Eden's script uses some classic and deep track references for the fan boys and girls but still plays with contemporary comedic conventions. I've been fortunate enough to be able to surround myself with an extremely talented cast and production team who are all a part of this hilarious, sexy show that will surely bring some light into all of our dark knights."

Critical acclaim from the suburban production includes:

"The whole cast show sexy confidence and solid comedic timing, creating a Gotham City that's a lot more fun than Christopher Nolan's."
-Chicago Reader

"There's no better use of your time, money, and airline miles than getting out to see this thing at least once. A rich, pop-geek-friendly comedy show."

"This isn't Shakespeare, and it isn't a strip club. But it is a barrel of sexy fun! I laughed. I laughed some more. I drank beer. I laughed even more. And I saw lots of boobies. As good as Christopher Nolan's latest Batman installment is, this show made a far more memorable evening. Enthusiastic thumbs up!"
-Ray's Chicago Area Burlesque

"A genuine good night out and a hilarious storyline to follow; complete with colorful costumes, awesome props like a handmade Batmobile, human penguins and killer sexy dance moves. It was ridiculous in the best way possible."
-Skokie Patch

Choreographed by Hazel Hellbender, Crystal Paradise, and Juicy Lucy.

ACT OUT OPENING: Don't Blink: A DOCTOR WHO BURLESQUE (18+)

Lady Lemondrop as The Doctor and Devyn DeViante as a Roller Skating Dalek
All photos by Greg Inda

DON’T BLINK: A DOCTOR WHO BURLESQUE
Is that a sonic screwdriver in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

Heck yeah!   Our fav nerdy burlesque is baaaaack with another new geek chic show.  We adore Dr. Who and can't wait to see it Gorilla Tangofied!   This show's bound to give the cliche "playing doctor" a whole new twist.

Diva La Vida as Cyberwoman
"Who can save the earth from imminent destruction?"

Hot on the heels of the critically acclaimed “The Empire Brings Sexy Back,” Gorilla Tango Burlesque releases a fun romp thru Doctors Past and Present that will keep you warm – and wide awake – thru Winter. DON’T BLINK: A DOCTOR WHO BURLESQUE performs Fridays at 9pm, February 1 – May 31, 2013 at Gorilla Tango Theatre Bucktown (1919 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago IL 60647). Tickets are $35; 18 and over only. Advance purchase recommended: www.gorillatango.com/who or 773-598-4549.

Come travel through time and space with The Doctor and his companion, Cort, in their silliest, sexiest and most “lady-like” adventure yet! When a rough ride in the TARDIS leads to some gender bending changes for The Doctor, s/he embarks on a literal journey of self-discovery. Along the way s/he meets up with old friends, older incarnations, a few enemies, and even a naked Ood or two. Daleks and Cyberwomen and Weeping Angels, Oh my!

Directed by Katherine Siegel and choreographed by Kay Smiles, DON’T BLINK: A DOCTOR WHO BURLESQUE is an awesomely hilarious burlesque spoof on the beloved series about the multi-incarnationed time traveler.

Says Seigal, “'Don’t Blink' is the sexy ode to Doctor Who that fans like me have been waiting for.” She continues, “It’s great to have the opportunity to take something you love and turn it on its head. So much work in science fiction deals with gender politics; and with a growing audience of female Sci-Fi fans, it’s great to take a moment to look at content with as much history as Doctor Who through a lens of femininity. Burlesque is all about social commentary through parody which makes it exciting for all audiences. Mixed in with the funny one liners and sight gags there is a ton of commentary about the emphasis on gender in the Doctor Who community. Oh, and did I mention? For those people who don’t care about all that, there will be boobs. Roller skating Dalek boobs. C’mon – how awesome is that?”

Actor ID (L-R): Juicy Lucy, Crystal Paradise, Lady Lemondrop, Diva La Vida, Devyn DeViante, Irene Goodnight, and Ruby Bourbon

Writer Busty Warren is excited to have brought a burlesque Doctor to life. "I'm thrilled that this show is happening in the year of Doctor Who's 50th anniversary…I've been a fan since before the 20th anniversary!" When asked to comment on her preferred Doctor, she replied, "For most people, their first Doctor is their favorite Doctor. Mine was 4, Tom Baker. I actually met him once at a convention in Boston in 1983. I knew it would be impossible to include all the Doctors, so I used the three most recent, from the "new" series, plus my boy Tom.”

Join Gorilla Tango Burlesque for the trip of a lifetime! And whatever you do, DON'T BLINK.

BOOBS OF THE DEAD: A WALKING DEAD BURLESQUE
Hottest. Apocalypse. Ever.

L-R: Paly Flames as the CDC Official, Helena Handbasket as Best Friend, Slightly Spitfire as Southern Guy, Honey Cha-Cha as Burlesque Zombie Beta, Alexis Rex as the Sheriff, Duchess Daffnie as a Burlesque Zombie Alpha, Devyn DeViante as Wife Lady, and Roxi La Rue as Old Dude  All photos by K Leo (www.mirthandbeauty.com)

Soft, eerie moans. The relentless approach of shuffling footsteps. And glitter. So. Much. Glitter.

Just in time for Halloween, Gorilla Tango Burlesque presents BOOBS OF THE DEAD: A WALKING DEAD BURLESQUE, the latest in a long line of unique and immensely popular scripted burlesque parodies. On stage in October ONLY, this silly, sexy Zombie-filled romp comes to life Fridays at 9pm and Saturdays at 11:59pm, October 5-27, 2012, with a special final performance on Wednesday, October 31st at 9pm (1919 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago IL 60647). Tickets are $20; *18 and over only. Advance purchase highly recommended (tickets are already selling strong!) at www.gorillatango.com/zombies or by phone at 773-598-4549.

You may have encountered their viral (pun intended) marketing in the form of Facebook updates from the fictional Chicago CDC which have been charting the spread of “virus B1Z3” since early August with warnings that “virus-carriers have been observed performing elaborate dance routines while removing sequined corsetry before committing heinous assaults on confused onlookers,” and, “One of the greatest dangers is that the infected show no visible signs of boas, pasties or high heels for the first 6 hours of infection... while they appear perfectly normal and super sexy they remain dangerous, and citizens should watch for these subtle signs and remain at a safe distance.”

Featuring such familiar zombie-genre archetypes as Sheriff, Wife Lady, Old Dude, Best Friend and Southern Guy, this slyly satirical exhibition of reanimated flesh will appeal to any audience seeking some glittery gore for the spooky season. One doesn’t have to be a fan of the television series to recognize the sexual tension between Wife Lady and Best Friend or enjoy Sheriff’s encounter with an attractively anthropomorphic horse.

Written and directed by internationally renowned fine art photographer K Leo, and with choreography by Erica Gerdes (the creative force behind burlesque numbers performed by some of Chicago’s most well known “classic” troupes such as Kiss Kiss Cabaret and the Belmont Burlesque Revue) this show promises to be one of the hottest tickets of Chicago’s October offerings—so take our advice and get them now (before they get you!)

With inspirations drawn from Lord of the Rings, World of Warcraft, and Dungeons and Dragons (as the title suggests), FELLOWSHIP OF THE BOOBS entwines classic burlesque gimmicks with iconic fantasy moments in an upbeat adventure plot that also pays homage to fantasy greats such as H.P. Lovecraft, J.K. Rowling, T.H. White, and “other brilliant authors with two first initials,” quips creator/director MsPixy, thumbing through a battered C.S. Lewis novel as she speaks.

From the start of the show the audience is welcomed as a fellow (chair-bound) adventurer and provided with training to fulfill their role as “Healer” on the journey. Endowed with the powers of Encouraging Woot (to give energy to the mighty bosoms of their fellow travelers) and Generous Tipping (to help restore Tip Points lost in battles with sexy beasties), both audience members with deep pockets and those saving their pennies for a post-show beverage can aide the forward progress of the Quest (and earn appreciative winks and shimmies from their on-stage companions).

Why yes, those ARE Merlocs.

Though the script is chock-full of references for the die-hard nerd crowd, creator/director MsPixy reassures us that you don’t need a game manual to play along. “These are strong, sexy, satisfyingly silly characters that have become part of the cultural consciousness. You don’t need to have memorized a map of Middle Earth to enjoy the journey... but if you have, there are many landmarks you’ll recognize along the way.”

“We've put together an exceptionally fun group of girls for this limited run - Geek Girl (as the GTB troupe is known) regulars and newbies alike - and I really hope you’ll come out and support their boobs.”

She pauses...

“You know what I mean.”

Be wary of Shelobs lair...

Check out ChiIL Live Shows Gorilla Tango Reviews here:

Dark Comedy Full House Musical Horribly Wrong In All The Right Ways

ChiIL Live Shows had a chance to check out Superboobs:   A Superhero Burlesque Adventure and also Attend The Tale of Danny Tanner:  A Full House Musical.

Their Burlesque is playful, grrrl powered fun for couples or a night out.   All body types are represented, not just sleek, airbrushed Barbie types.   Most of all, the actors look like they're having a great time, thoroughly enjoying their campy parodies.   Seeing a Gorilla Tango Burlesque show is kinda like spying on a girly slumber party or 21+ kids playing R rated charades with a costume bin.

There's even a lobby bar!    Gorilla Tango is not just hooters.....their shows are a hoot....clever, smart, sexy spoofs.    Come check 'em out.    Highly recommended adult fun.

We're super stoked  Attend The Tale of Danny Tanner:  A Full House Musical has been extended yet again!!  Check the below for show dates and times. This show was horribly wrong in ALL the right ways.   I haven't laughed this hard in ages.  The audience was on the floor laughing from the time the opening number echoed forth.

The actors' parodies were so funny I can't believe the cast actually made it through the whole show without cracking, though I saw a few tell tale facial twitches.   Attend the tale....before it's too late.   If you drove, you might want to forgo the lobby bar on this one...lest someone in the audience gets any ideas!   There's always the blue line el--Western stop a short walk away.    However you get there, go already.  Check out more details about Attend The Tale of Danny Tanner here.

Completely sold out since it hit the ground running in May, ATTEND THE TALE OF DANNY TANNER: A FULL HOUSE MUSICAL has been extended yet again! It will perform TUESDAYS at 7:30pm, August 14 & 21, and September 4-25,2012. Tickets are $15; on line HERE or 773-598-4549 for tickets and more info.
