* Festival Appearance

The Inspector Cluzo – Laurent (guitar, lead vocals) and Mathieu (drums) – have earned worldwide applause and attention for their elemental brand of hard-working blues rock ‘n’ roll and uniquely self-sufficient approach. Since coming together in 2008, the fully independent duo has released nine albums via their own FTBP Records, including last year’s acclaimed Horizon. Produced by 6x GRAMMY® Award-winner Vance Powell (Jack White, Chris Stapleton, Phish), the album earned them the cover of Rolling Stone France as well as a four-starred rave, and named by Classic Rock as one of “The 50 Best Albums of the Year.”

Last year also saw The Inspector Cluzo starring in their own full-length documentary, Running A Family Farm, showcasing their extraordinary work as professional organic farmers in the Gascony region of France. The duo’s Lou Casse Farm (“The Oak” in Gascon) is a 15-hectare family farm building the agriculture of the future via Agro-Ecology, that is to say without chemicals, non-polluting, creating biodiversity, and fighting against climate change. Filmed over three years, the film – which follows the band’s 2015 documentary, Rockfarmers - presents an intimate look at the daily life and inner workings of Lou Casse, highlighting issues like global warming and the uncertain future facing family farms around the globe.

Along with running Lou Casse (as well as their own label and E-shop), The Inspector Cluzo have lit up countless stages around the work, performing more than 1200 gigs in 67 countries spanning North American runs supporting bands like Clutch and EELS to international festival appearances including Lollapalooza (France, Brazil, Chile), Japan’s Fujirock, South Korea’s Pentaport, the UK’s Download Festival, and France’s own Hellfest, to name only a few. As with Lou Casse, The Inspector Cluzo adhere to organic principles on stage and in the studio, guided by strong convictions and deep passion for the natural and true sound of the blues.

THE INSPECTOR CLUZO SINGLE "SWALLOWS" HERE AND NEW ALBUM: HORIZON OUT JANUARY 27, 2023

   THE INSPECTOR CLUZO

SHARE SECOND SINGLE "SWALLOWS"

NEW ALBUM: HORIZON

OUT JANUARY 27, 2023

PRE-ORDERS AVAILABLE

Here at ChiIL Live Shows, we caught The Inspector Cluzo live in Chicago when they opened for Clutch, and we thoroughly enjoyed their set. Check 'em out.

Check out their video for Swallows HERE.

The Inspector Cluzo says "We decided to write a song about the swallows not only because they are so beautiful spinning around in the sky or flying over our organic wheat and corn fields to collect bugs to feed their young, but also to point out that farming is possible without destroying the world. We've been trying out this agro-ecological system for more than 10 years now and are so fortunate to welcome swallows every year”

"Running a family farm is more rock than playing rock’n’roll music "

The DIY Guascon farmers are thrilled to announce the release of their second single "Swallows". The track is accompanied by a stunning animated video, which is available here. The single is taken from the band’s forthcoming ninth studio album Horizon set for release on January 27, 2023, via F.thebassplayer Records.

"Swallows" video has been drawn by Cecilia Pepper and animated by Maxime Cazaux, it perfectly embodies the spirit of this track. Swallows is quintessentially a The Inspector Cluzo song, it is more than a ballad, it brings to the frontline crucial issues we all face, with rock elegance, unbearable sadness and profound anger.

The Inspector Cluzo comments: "At Lou Casse organic farm, we're fortunate enough to see migratory birds such as swallows building their nest in the old barn. Pesticides used worldwide make it hard for swallows to find food because bugs are being killed in the fields. Furthermore, the proliferation of urban zones prevents them to find proper shelter to raise their young. We can see them disappearing little by little. It's ironic to know that the use of pesticides is said to "feed people" - most food on Earth is made using chemical agriculture techniques - whereas it destroys every little life around it.

We decided to write a song about the swallows not only because they are so beautiful spinning around in the sky or flying over our organic wheat and corn fields to collect bugs to feed their young, but also to point out that farming is possible without destroying the world. Though it'll be a long shot and a long fight before modern society understands this.

At Lou Casse, we've been trying out this agro-ecology system for more than 10 years now and are so fortunate to welcome swallows every year... "

The band’s forthcoming record, Horizon, comes after the critically acclaimed LP We The People Of The Soil (2018) and the live album Brothers In Ideals – We The People Of The Soil Unplugged (2020). Recorded in three weeks and produced by Grammy Award winner Vance Powell, Horizon is the deepest and truest album The Inspector Cluzo have written to date.

Each song shares and takes inspiration from real life events and experiences. For example, "Wolfs At The Door", tells the story of the struggle the two farmers experienced when standing up against a duck factory located in front of their farm and the fight they had to put up when faced with a massive bird flu pandemic. "Saving The Geese" describes the civil disobedience against the French State and the big local agro-industries corporations that wanted to kill the band’s healthy animals as "prevention”. "Shenanigans" re-evokes the great times the band spent in Nashville with their friend Bill Elder who run the Shenanigans bar and who put them up during all Nashville studio sessions. "Rockophobia", on the other hand, is one of the surprises The Inspector Cluzo reserved for the fans, it is a fun rock number, in which the band wonders "what does rock mean today?" laughing at Iggy Pop, who later decided to feature on the track.

In keeping with their reputation as one the most prolific touring bands in the world (they have played over 1200 shows in 67 countries to date), The Inspector Cluzo completed sold out USA support tours with Clutch and Eels in 2019, alongside a host of festival appearances across the globe (including Lollapalooza Chile and Brazil) and a maiden US headline tour. In the summer of 2022 The Inspector Cluzo played extensively on prestigious stages across Europe, including the widely renowned Hellfest Festival, where they gathered a crowd of 50,000 fans.

ZED New Song Streaming Now--Desperation Blues Out May 21st #freestreaming

ZED Premiere New Song on Noisecreep

Desperation Blues Out May 21st via I:AND:I Recordings

Great Rock and Roll doesn't just happen. It's made. With sweat, swagger and alcohol. And ZED makes rock the way it should be made. Loud guitars, a shot of whiskey and a middle finger.

ZED is gearing up for the release on their sophomore album Desperation Blues May 21st via I:AND:I Recordings. Today the band has partnered with Noisecreep to debut another song from the album. Check out the debut of the song "Skin and Bones" HERE.

The band recently completed work on a video for the first single from the album entitled "Please". Check it out on their YouTube Channel HERE.

Desperation Blues is available for pre-order HERE.

San Francisco Bay Area's ZED takes it cues from the greats like Zeppelin, Sabbath and AC/DC, but combines them with their contemporary musical influences such as Clutch, Rage Against the Machine and Queens of the Stone Age, creating a mixture that is new, yet familiar. With this explosive sound they are bringing back the guts, the grit and the balls to Rock. And they won't stop until they succeed. At least in getting drunk and having a good time.

In June of 2012 ZED entered Sonic Room Studios with Tim Narducci engineering and producing their sophomore album Desperation Blues. With the studio expertise that he gained from working with greats like Bob Rock (Metallica, The Cult) and Howard Benson (P.O.D., My Chemical Romance), Narducci was able to harness the raw energy and essence of ZED in a way that had not been done before. And what they came out with was 46 minutes of giant, hook filled riffing, crafted into 10 songs that make up one beast of an album.

Desperation Blues Tracklisting:
1)      Please
2)      Skin and Bones
3)      Killing Machine
4)      Desperation Blues
5)      Crawl Back to You
6)      More

10)  The River

Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros-Chicago Bluegrass and Blues Fest 2010

Barefoot in December....at "a summer festival brought indoors for the Chicago winter".

Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros had the Congress Theatre smokin' hot as headliners at the 3rd annual Chicago Bluegrass and Blues Fest last Saturday night.  It truly felt like an outdoor festival atmosphere, complete with hula hoops and hippie vendors.  I was blown away by the excellent caliber of the musicians and the playful, enthusiastic audience.

It was funny that the last show I saw at The Congress last month was Clutch, Children of Boden, and Black Label Society.  The burly bouncers had their hands full with all the bodies crowd surfing over the barricades and into the photo pit.

This time, the only things coming toward the stage were daisies and a gifted tambourine that were peacefully offered up to the musicians, not thrown.   The bouncers still got a work out, though, as Edward Sharpe repeatedly waded out into the audience.   At one point, he was the one jumping out to crowd surf.  He even talked everyone into sitting down on the floor for the show closer, then he walked out and joined them!

Check out some past footage of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals performing live!   Edward Sharpe was shirtless and barefoot, and his piano player and Grace Potter, the lead singer who opened for him, kicked off their shoes to play barefoot, as well.

Check out the CBB Website for recaps of the shows and follow them on FB for updates.

We'd also like to introduce a new ChiIL Mama spin off for 2011--ChiIL Live Shows.    We'll still run recaps here on ChiIL Mama, but all the live music, band interviews and live theatre we shoot will be cross posted on ChiIL LIve Shows, archived and easy to search.   We'll get things started off with CBB and work our way backwards all the way to Summer Camp 2 years ago with a live Jay Goldberg video interview and photos of Les Claypool, Buckethead and more.

INCOMING: GWAR, Clutch, Mastodon, Slayer, Rebel Stage Friday #Riotfest #ChiILPicksList

GWAR to Embark Upon the
"GWAR Eternal Tour 2014"

Chi, IL Live Shows On Our Radar
ChiIL Live Shows #ChiILPicksList

Thinking of ducking out of a day job early on Friday? As sad as we are that GWAR is now Brockieless, they're still well worth getting to Riot Fest early for (4:15 early in fact). They're kicking off a sick string of our favorites on the Rebel stage: GWAR, Clutch, Mastodon & Slayer!  Come rage with ChiIL Live Shows.

You just have to see GWAR to believe em. They defy definition. They're some of the most colorful metal monsters out there and so are their fans by the end of the show. Are you ready to get wet?! Some of my all time favorite original Riot Fest shots came from the aftermath of a GWAR set in 2012. I didn't want to risk my gear on the front lines, so I lurked stage right and caught all the crowd surfers as they emerged.

Been living in a cave? Not up on your recent GWARhistory? Here's our past coverage on our communal loss of a creative genius this past March:

MORE GWAR LORE & TOUR DATES:

Oderus is missing. Once the Scumdogs in GWAR finally notice this (it takes them a while to notice stuff) they will set off on a journey to find their departed brother using every resource available - including recruiting an ancient Scumdog warrior. GWAR will need the help from everyone, even the lowliest Bohab, as their enemies are plotting to take advantage of the hole in GWAR's ranks.

BalSac The Jaws of Death on The "GWAR Eternal Tour 2014" and what to expect:

"Dark clouds of war and ill omen have gathered around GWAR. In our hour of greatest peril, Oderus has left us and our enemies stand poised, ready to strike while they sense weakness. But we shall no longer cower in our Antarctic stronghold, awaiting Destiny's final blow. This Fall GWAR sets out on the most trying quest of our career. We shall scour our leader's favorite stomping ground, North America, leaving no city unsearched, no venue unraised, and no sheep unmolested. GWAR will venture to the depths of Hell or to the very end of Time itself, and though I fear what we may encounter out there, I know that we can never return home until we have the answer we seek: 'Where is Oderus Urungus?'"

GWAR fans have been mourning the loss of Dave Brockie, GWAR's founder and lead singer, since March. The "GWAR Eternal Tour 2014" gives them an opportunity to gather and share a bunch of feels as a community while experiencing the sickest band in this or any other world.

Jamison Land, Beefcake the Mighty's personal slave and bass tech:

"Dave was our friend and anchor for as far back as anyone can remember.  He's held us together, and sometimes he drove us apart.  He is our brother and we love him. Unlike a lot of prominent musicians, he was friends with all of the fans. He made GWAR fans feel special on a personal level.  The fans love Dave as much as we do and 'The GWAR Eternal Tour 2014' is our way of getting together and sharing that love."

The first leg of the tour will include direct support from Decapitated; the second leg will have direct support from Corrosion of Conformity.  American Sharks will open all shows.  The tour kicks off October 15th in Norfolk, VA and runs through December 13th in Baltimore, MD.  A complete list of dates can be found below.  Tickets go on sale this weekend.

Hail Oderus! Hail GWAR!
