ALL AGES!
Record release show for Dead On TV's new EP, CREEPER!

DEAD ON TV
Shit Show New-Wave Garage Punk From Chicago, Dead on TV has stroked audiences all over the nation with their brand of explosive new-wave punk narcissism. This sound, coupled with the smash and grab disruption of lead singer Dan Evans, the brutal machine-like ineptness of drummer Vince Mcaley, the pounding low end of synth player Mike Bradberry and a complete and heinous disregard for the life of guitar player Corey Devlin has resulted in some of the most epically offensive shows ever removed from youtube for violation of community standards.

CRUDE HUMOR
Nik, Omar, and Bradley were born as siamese triplets. We found Luke later on. He was a prom night dumpster baby.

HAPPY99
Punk Rock/Alternative/Whatever you think we are band band from Chicago.

INCOMING: Mutts Play Riot Fest Sunday at 12:30 on Radical Stage #Riotfest #ChiILPicksLIst

Here at ChiIL Live Shows we've been tracking the rise of Chicago favorites, Mutts, for years now. Click here for loads of our photo filled Mutts coverage. They're a staple of summer fests and put on a rockin' live show. If you can drag your butts outta bed by noon Sunday, come on out and make the most of the final day of Riot Fest with an early start. They're one band worth waking up for.  If not, their 4th studio release is about to drop and they'll be touring.  Ones to watch.

Chi, IL Live Bands On Our Radar
ChiIL Live Shows ChiIL Picks List

Via Mutts:
We're playing RIOT FEST 2014!

If you're headed there this weekend, come see us Sunday 9/14 at 12:30pm on the Radical Stage.  We're proud to be one of a few Chicago-based bands representing at Riot Fest this year, including our good friends Archie Powell and the Exports.

And speaking of them, here's an early warning for our LP Release Show:
Fuel Yer Delusion, vol. 4

Our fourth full-length studio album, Fuel Yer Delusion vol. 4, will be available on CD, digital and vinyl on Tuesday, December 9th.

But you, my friend, can pick it up early at our LP Release show!

We're still deciding between two venues and dates, but the lineup is all set, and it's definitely going down the first weekend in December:

Fuel Yer Delusion vol. 4 Release Party
Either ???????????? or ?????
Chicago, IL
December 5 or 6
with:
1. ?????? ?????? ? ??? ??????? (Chicago)
2. ??? ???????? (Chicago)
3. ??? ???? ??? ???? (??????????)

I know that's a wickedly nebulous announcement.  We're just excited to get our 4th LP to you.  Blues Traveler 4, Led Zeppelin 4, Connect Four, Tetris, the word "Friend," according to Cake - these are other legendary quad-related things, an echelon we hope to join with this record.
There we go again, with the delusion.
Anyway.

Whether it's at ???-? or ?????, we're headlining, with three of our favorite bands on the bill, and it'll be time to kick off the holiday season.  With so many reasons to celebrate, please pencil Mutts in on your calendar, and stay tuned for the details - plus our first single and video - coming in the next week or two.

Chicago!  Our home, our family and friends, the place we became a band, the place our sound comes from, and the place we often get silly drunk and play punk-ass shows with kick-ass bands.  We've blazed past 100 tour dates already this year, representing our home town in 20 or so states, as best we can.  And we're excited to bring it back to you with these two uproarious shows.  Hope to see you at one, or both!  Until then, take care of yerselves.

Love,
Mike, Bob and Chris

SELF-TITLED, SELF-PRODUCED ALBUM OUT SEPTEMBER 9 ON PAX-AM/BLUE NOTE
SEPTEMBER 8 RECORD RELEASE PARTY, NOVEMBER HEADLINE DATES ON SALE AUGUST 15

Last night at the Witching Hour, Ryan Adams and Elvira conspired to unveil the spooktastic video for “Gimme Something Good,” the already overwhelmingly acclaimed lead single from the self-produced Ryan Adams (out September 9 on PAX-AM/Blue Note). Those brave enough to view the Michael Reich-directed clip in the light of day can now do so here AMONG THE LIVING.

“Gimme Something Good” will make its network TV debut tomorrow night on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, giving the audience in the studio and at home a taste of what’s been getting the media riled up like so:

“scorches with Stonesian bravado and a fist-pump-worthy chorus" – ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY The Must List

“If 'Gimme Something Good' – the lead single, is any indication, the album will contain more of the blues-tinged, post–college rock that earned him fans in the first place.” — ROLLING STONE

"This thing is a total knockout. Give it a listen.” — STEREOGUM
"a gritty guitar-driven jam perfect for cranking on the stereo while summertime cruising up Main Street.” — TIME

Continuing the return to the stage that has already included a triumphant headline appearance at the Newport Folk Festival and last week’s sold out shows in Boulder and Aspen, Ryan and band have added a new leg of November dates to their current tour. The new dates are on sale to the publicFriday, August 15 at 10am local time with artist pre-sales opening Thursday, August 14 at 10am local time (with the exception of Cleveland, which on sale 11am local time).

NEW RELEASE: DEVO The Men Who Make The Music / Butch Devo & The Sundance Gig available on DVD and Digital Formats on August 12

What We're Watching:

       Classic DEVO live in 1978-79
philosophy and more!

Click here to see Rolling Stone premieres "Too Much Paranoia" clip

Here at ChiIL Live Shows we dig DEVO. We grew up with their music and they were still fanstastic when we saw them tour with Blondie on the Whip It To Shreds Tour.  This new DVD/digital release is a must have for any serious music collector. Why?

It's in demand: The original VHS it's based on goes for hundreds of dollars!

It's subversive:  Originally shelved by Time Life due to concerns about its anti-music industry content.

It's a slice of music history:  Some of the earliest professionally shot footage of DEVO And Bonus film: 1996 Sundance Film Festival live show featuring early DEVO songs

The Men Who Make the Music combines concert footage from DEVO's 1978 tour with music videos and interstitials featuring a vague story about DEVO's rocky relationship with "Big Entertainment."

As for the bonus program, Butch Devo and the Sundance Gig, Jerry Casale says, "In January of '96, we closed Sundance Film Festival. We wore 20s style prison suits and dished out classic DEVO songs to an unsuspecting audience of Hollywood elite."

STEREOGUM PREMIERES NEW TRACK
PLEASE DON'T TELL MY LOVER

GQ MAGAZINE'S 25 BEST SONGS OF THE SUMMER

BAND PERFORMING AT BONNAROO, AUSTIN CITY LIMITS & MORE

NEW EP HOW GOOD DOES IT FEEL OUT JUNE 17TH
ON CHOP SHOP / ISLAND RECORDS

Empires are thrilled to announce they'll make their TV debut on The Late Show with David Letterman on June 17th! That same day, Chop Shop / Island Records will release the band's new EP How Good Does It Feel - a collection of songs that will appear on their major label debut Orphan out later this year.

A band hand-picked early on by NPR Music as one their 100 acts to see at SXSW this year, Empires new single "How Good Does It Feel" was recently named one of the 25 Best Songs of the Summer by GQ Magazine.

Stereogum is now streaming "Please Don't Tell My Lover" - a new song from the EP which they rave, "Empires make timeless music - upbeat yet melancholy, pleasant but not saccharine, lyrics tangled up in the messy business of romance ... these guys have their own thing going, though, and that thing is highly appropriate for the summer that is about to unfold before us."

Empires have already played the Hangout and Bottle Rock Music Festivals, toured with Margot & The Nuclear So and So's and are looking forward to performing at this year's Bonnaroo and Austin City Limits Music Festivals. The band will also hit the road with The Chain Gang of 1974 this July.

The EP (and upcoming LP) was produced by John Congleton (St. Vincent, The War On Drugs and The Black Angels) and will be available in digital and on limited edition 10" vinyl. Visit iTunes, Spotify and www.weareempires.com for more info.
