ChiIL Live Shows on our radar this week. They're baaaaack.  March Fourth is one of our all time favs, and not just because these kick ass Portland performers put on a rockin' birthday bash every year for my little sis who lives in Portland and was born on 3/4.  We're immersed in the circus arts world and love what March Fourth does.    Click here for ChiIL Live Shows' original March Fourth content from their last 2 Chi-town shows. One of these days they'll play outdoors in Chi-town so they can break out their full blown fire show and we can bring underagers ((hint hint)).   My own 9 & 12 year olds who perform with CircEsteem LOVE March Fourth on line and I'm sure they'd be even more blown away live. Yesterday as we were loading up the tour bus for another trip across the USA, the sun was shining in our hometown of Portland. Daffodils were blooming, the cherry blossoms were out, but I guess we've got a hankering for a bit more winter because we're heading east to the Rockies, then out to the Great Lakes and finishing up this trip on the east coast. This is the first tour of our new year (which starts on March 4th of course!) and we are so excited to present some new tunes, new routines and even a new band member or two! You'll never know quite what you're going to get since every show is different, but it's a guaranteed good time. Do us a favor and take a moment to spread the word to any friends and family about our shows, particularly in Madison, WI and Ames, IA and Lincoln, NE and Philadelphia, PA. It helps a lot, thanks! Huge armfuls of gratitude to everyone for all the birthday wishes over the past few weeks. We've really been feeling the love from our fans all these years, and especially in March as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of our first show. Wow, ten years! It's been so fun to look back over the years and see where this project has been. It was especially great to have so many of the M4 alumni back on stage for an encore song at our birthday show! November 3rd, it was our great pleasure to check out Portland's Punk Circus Brass....March Fourth back in Chi-town again.   When their big bus pulls into town, a party's sure to break out!   This time was no exception.  

Local boys, Whysowhite, got the crowd warmed up, and March Fourth took it to the next level.   Our favorite freaks got everyone shakin' their booties, screwing their lightbulbs, and having a raucous good time.

Greetings from the road! The first week or so of this tour was super fun but a little chilly, especially since we discovered the main cabin heater of the bus was broken (hey, the AC worked great all summer!) We just got the heater fixed in Chicago yesterday on our day off though, so things are going to be toasty on the road from here on out. We hear it gets quite cold at the Bear Creek Music Festival, despite being in Florida. Then we'll be making our way up the east coast, where we hope to bring a little joy to the storm victims. Speaking of Sandy, we're raising funds for the American Red Cross relief efforts. Through the month of November, 100% of Bandcamp downloads of "Gospel" go to support victims of Superstorm Sandy. Thanks for your generous donations! Today is the first Monday in November, which means tomorrow is election day and it's time toVOTE! In Oregon our vote-by-mail system allowed many of us to vote from the comfort of our tour bus, but we know the rest of you might have to work a little harder to cast your ballot, so THANK YOU!!! (BTW, did you know March 4th was the date the US Constitution went into effect?) We're pretty thankful to have the opportunity to travel this country and meet so many amazing people along the way. Portland's rockin' circus punk marching band will be back at Martyrs again THIS Saturday night.  



Highly recommended!    We adore these guys and their lively, high energy show.   Must see.

Are you a fan of Chi-town's Mucca Pazza?   Ever watch Portlandia?   March Fourth is Portland's punk rock marching band and they're marching forth to entertain YOU, right here in the windy city.   Check 'em out.   My little sis lives in Portland and has been a fan for years.   She was born on March 4th and every year the band throws down a big show on their namesake day and invites everyone who shares that birthday to get in free.   So basically they've been playing her birthday bash for years!   Fun fun.  We'll be there to shoot the show and can't wait to check em out at Martyr's.   Here's the March Fourth site.

Jonas Friddle & the Majority
Jonas Friddle & The Majority arrived on the scene simultaneously debuting two records on March 24th, 2012. “Belle De Louisville” and “Synco Pony” showcase this seven-piece band’s ability to pull from both the string band and blues traditions of American Roots music. The Chicago-based “orchestral folk” group is comprised of a string section, brass, organ, banjo and drums. Each member of the Majority boasts a strong personal music career with close ties to Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music, where the band formed.Jonas Friddle’s passion for old-time style banjo from his native North Carolina leads to rhythmic and rolling compositions. Following the example of new folk groups like Crooked Still, Abigail Washburn and Old Crow Medicine Show, Jonas looks for a new take on an old sound.
