REVOCATION Enter the Studio #originalshowshots #metal

Live Dates With Goatwhore, 3 Inches of Blood and Ramming Speed Confirmed
Massachusetts metallers REVOCATION have entered the studio to begin work on the follow up to their critically acclaimed 2011 Relapse Records release Chaos of Forms.  This will be the first full length album with bass player Brett Bamberger who joined the band in 2012 and was featured on the band's last EP Teratogenesis which was released by Scion AV.

Frontman Dave Davidson commented on the start of the recording process:

"What's up guys, today we've entered the studio to record our upcoming full length with long time producer and drinking buddy Pete Rutcho. We'll be recording the drums at The Brick Hithouse Studio and then finish up the rest of the tracking at Damage Studios. This is shaping up to be some of our most aggressive material to date and will be the next logical step forward from our last EP. The songs on this upcoming record have a great deal of diversity to them and employ a variety of different techniques, tunings and tempos.  We are incredibly stoked to begin this process and can't wait for our fans to hear the finished product. More details as they develop..."

The band will take a quick break from working on their new album this Spring when they hit the road with Goatwhore, 3 Inches of Blood, and Ramming Speed.  REVOCATION joins the tour in Bucksport, ME on April 28th and will play six shows winding things down in Toronto on May 3rd.  A complete list of dates is below.

Updated REVOCATION news and tour information will be made available at the Relapse Records website, & the REVOCATION Facebook page.

INCOMING: Uli Jon Roth & Elliot Rubinson 2/17 Reggie's Rock Club

Dean Guitars and Ddrum CEO Elliot Rubinson to Play Bass on First Half of Uli Jon Roth North American Tour

As the 40th Anniversary of his joining the Scorpions North American tour rolls on, ULI JON ROTH has confirmed that Dean Guitars and Ddrum CEO Elliot Rubinson will be playing bass in ULI's band for the first half of the tour. Rubinson recently toured North America as a part of Michael Schenker's band. Elliot started on January 26th in Santa Ana, CA and will continue on the tour through February 12th in Ottawa, Ontario Canada. In addition ULI will be joined by various Dean Artists throughout the tour.

Elliot commented about being a part of ULI's band on the upcoming tour:

"I have been fortunate to be able to have played with ULI everywhere from cruise ship tours to European trade shows. He is clearly one of the greatest guitarists ever with a sense of harmonies few possess. Since we grew up on the same music we share a passion for greats like Jimi Hendrix. I am very excited about being a part of the filming and recording taking place on this tour"

ULI is equally excited to be playing with Rubinson:

"It is always a real pleasure to share the stage with Elliott Rubinson. Not only is he an excellent bass player, who delivers the goods at every show, but he also connects with the audience in a great way. Together we're rocking the house!"

As one of the founding members of THE SCORPIONS, ULI wrote much of the material on the bands first five albums ("Fly to the Rainbow", "In Trance", "Virgin Killer", "Taken by Force" and the critically acclaimed live release "Tokyo Tapes"). These albums helped shape what is now considered the classic SCORPIONS sound.

Breaking major ground with his music, ULI is regarded as a significant influence by many notable guitar players of yesterday and today including but not limited to Slash, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Eddie Van Halen. Having collaborated and shared the stage with the likes of Jack Bruce, UFO, Brian May, and others, ULI continues to inspire and pave the way for musicians and fans alike.Widely recognized as perhaps the single most important protagonist of Neo-classical guitar playing, ULI is seen by many as a trend-setter who has often been considerably ahead of his time.

In addition to his breathtaking 40th Anniversary shows, ULI will also be offering his world renowned Sky Academy Seminars while he is on the road in North America. The aim of Sky Academy is to provide knowledge and inspiration to those who take guitar playing seriously and to help them reach a new plateau. The seminars are designed to open musicians' eyes to new possibilities and to trigger an awakening of the student's full potential and talent. Special emphasis is given to inspirational concepts rather than technical means. While the academy is also discussing matters of technique, purely practical aspects of guitar playing are not at the forefront of the teaching. This means that exercises play only a minor role in the seminar, which aims to impart ways of HOW to get better in a short time, rather than prescribing exercises as a means to get better, or as some sort of musical 'medicine'. Exercises are undoubtedly an important part of any musician's development, but there are already numerous facilities to learn about these things, and Sky Academy is designed to teach particularly those things which are not normally touched upon in music teaching, but which provide a true gateway to mastery.

March Fourth Band News & Tour Dates

We just had the great pleasure of checkin' out March Fourth at Martyrs on Saturday night.   Highly recommended.   Do NOT miss them live if they're heading your way.   We'll have loads of original show HD footage, stills and our review of their latest album, Magnificent Beast.

Check back with ChiIL Mama & ChiIL Live Shows like we vote in Chi, IL...early and often.

Greetings from the road!
The first week or so of this tour was super fun but a little chilly, especially since we discovered the main cabin heater of the bus was broken (hey, the AC worked great all summer!) We just got the heater fixed in Chicago yesterday on our day off though, so things are going to be toasty on the road from here on out. We hear it gets quite cold at the Bear Creek Music Festival, despite being in Florida. Then we'll be making our way up the east coast, where we hope to bring a little joy to the storm victims. Speaking of Sandy, we're raising funds for the American Red Cross relief efforts. Through the month of November, 100% of Bandcamp downloads of "Gospel" go to support victims of Superstorm Sandy. Thanks for your generous donations!
Today is the first Monday in November, which means tomorrow is election day and it's time toVOTE! In Oregon our vote-by-mail system allowed many of us to vote from the comfort of our tour bus, but we know the rest of you might have to work a little harder to cast your ballot, so THANK YOU!!! (BTW, did you know March 4th was the date the US Constitution went into effect?) We're pretty thankful to have the opportunity to travel this country and meet so many amazing people along the way. Will we see you soon? Check out our website calendar or our list of tour dates below and catch us on the road near you.

CLUTCH Announce Earth Rocker as New Album Title

Here at ChiIL Live Shows, we've been fans of Clutch's uniquely poetic, genre defying metal for decades, so we're stoked to announce they've got new material coming.   We had a chance to interview frontman, Neil Fallon, recently in Indianapolis and we'll have that exclusive video interview published here shortly.   Clutch is skipping Chicago this fall, but they'll be playing Joliet November 2nd with Monstro and Lionize.   Be there!

Check back with ChiIL Live Shows like we vote in Chi, IL...early and often for loads of original content, pit photos, video interviews, free downloads, give aways and more.

Earth Rocker World Tour to Kick off in January 2013
Maryland rockers CLUTCH have announced Earth Rocker as the title of their new studio album.  Earth Rocker is scheduled for a worldwide release in March of 2013 on CLUTCH's label Weathermaker Music.

In conjunction with the album's release CLUTCH will embark on the Earth Rocker world tour beginning in The United Kingdom in January of 2013.  In addition to the tour dates, the band will be available for press opportunities on select dates. A complete list of dates can be found below.  A full United States and Canadian headline tour will follow and is slated to run from March 8th through April 20th.

The band has completed tracking Earth Rocker with Machine handling all production duties.  Machine is currently in the mixing process on the album.  Fans can keep up on the progress of Earth Rocker by visiting the new website www.earthrocker.com. The website will be a hub dedicated to all things Earth Rocker.  Fans can expect to see daily updates including photos, videos from the studio, song title announcements and samples of new songs.  In addition to the new website CLUTCH has joined the world of twitter.  Follow CLUTCH on Twitter @ClutchOfficial.

Frontman Neil Fallon commented on the the recording process for Earth Rocker and how it differs from other CLUTCH albums:

"Last minute overdubs are fun.  Harmonicas, tambourines (yes, we use those), claps, the odd backing vocal.  Recording can be monotonous, so those unintended moments can be a lot of fun. It's kind of like kindergarten music class, but with beer.   And sometimes the spontaneity of a last ditch idea breathes a lot of life back into a song that we've been beating up for weeks on end. A looming deadline can be a great muse!"

He continues, "It has a lot in common with Blast Tyrant in that Machine's production techniques are really unique.  It differs from Blast Tyrant and a lot of other CLUTCH records in that, overall, the songs are faster and concise."

When asked about how this record how it differs from other CLUTCH releases guitarist Tim Sult added, "As far as the composition of the songs go, this is the heaviest and fastest CLUTCH album to date. "

CLUTCH will also take to the road starting on Halloween for a quick run of dates including two stops in Flint, MI and two stops in Detroit, MI.  MonstrO will open these shows with Lionize providing direct support.

In what has become an annual tradition, CLUTCH will play a string of Holiday tour dates this December.  The dates kick off December 26th in Washington, DC and conclude with a special New Year's Eve performance in Worcester, MA at The Palladium.  Support on these shows will come from Mondo Generator, Saviours and Wino.  A complete list of all dates is below.

“Nobody ever paid money to see Harry Houdini escape being buried alive” says My Jerusalem founder and singer Jeff Klein. “They wanted the small chance of seeing him killed by the weight of the earth on top of him.”

Behold the concept behind Preachers, the second full-length release from Austin’s My Jerusalem. From the opening piano of the haunting title track, to the unexpected pummeling guitar and drums on closer “I Left My Conscience In You”, Preachers leads the listener on a cinematic journey through a reckless, jagged landscape of Raymond Carver-esque stories, fueled by Klein’s persuasive baritone, ominous guitars, dream-like keyboards and a deep rhythmic pulse.

Recorded in under three weeks by Spoon drummer Jim Eno (Heartless Bastards, Polica, Black Joe Lewis) at his Public Hi-Fi studio, Preachers is the first My Jerusalem album genuinely made by a band, not just performed by a group of musicians. Pushing aside hard drives and laptops to make way for analog tape machines and vintage keyboards, what Klein describes as the “Post-Modern Southern Gothic Soul” sounds of Preachers were born from organic, live performances Eno carefully captured and tweaked.

Preachers is the follow-up to 2010’s critically acclaimed debut, Gone For Good, an album that earned the band performances on BBC Radio 6 and Daytrotter, as well as notices from NPR’s All Songs Considered, AOL/Spinner’s Song of the Day, and the iTunes Weekly Rewind. Along with European festival appearances at the Frequency Festival, Musikfestwochen, and Rock Im Saal, the band toured and played shows with a eclectic set of bands including Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Har Mar Superstar, Avett Brothers, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and White Arrows.

Buoyed by the success of Gone For GoodPreachers showcases a band headed into the studio with a renewed focus and confidence.Preachers contains equal parts swagger (the swampy gospel of title track “Preachers”, the strutting intensity of “Born In The Belly”) and groove (the spooky beauty of “Shatter Together”, the crescendoing, feral drive of “Devoe”, the infectious crooner “Mono”); as much primal (“Death Valley”) as it is humane (“Chameleon”).

“It’s a darker record,” says Klein, who, before forming My Jerusalem in 2010, made 3 records under his own name. “So much had changed since Gone For Good. We’d all kind of been through hell and back again in different ways, and this was the natural artistic result of all of that.  But I think it’s a beautiful, comforting darkness. It’s real, but not selfish.”

“We finally have a shared collective vibe,” adds guitarist/keyboardist Jon Merz, “I believe it’s more representative of what our live shows sound like. This time around, Jeff would bring us song ideas and we would add our own perspectives to it.”
The five-piece, which also features multi-instrumentalist Michael St. Clair, drummer Grant Van Amburgh, and bassist Geena Spigarelli, also had the opportunity to road-test much of the new material before recording, during their extensive touring behind Gone For Good. It was a luxury they didn’t have the first time around.

“Working out the kinks live before recording them makes a big difference,” reflects Klein, “They get a chance to breathe and grow before committing them to the world permanently. Because of that process, some songs, like ‘Death Valley,’ sound nothing like their early version. We’re excited to take them on the road and see how they evolve even further.”
Equal parts sweet, morbid, strange, and sincere,Preachers is an experience that could convert the most steadfast of non-believers.
