VICTORY RECORDS WELCOMES THE REVEREND HORTON HEAT
Victory Records is honored to announce thatTHE REVEREND HORTON HEAT has joined the Victory roster.
The Rev comments, “We are very excited to be a Victory band now. Since we are going to get back to doing some edgier stuff, it makes perfect sense to be on Victory. Plus, they are as passionate as we are. Stay tuned for some crazy ideas about our new album. Tony said I'm graduating to Pope. Hallelujah!!!” “Signing a veteran artist of The Reverend Horton Heat’s caliber and reputation coupled with the fact that they are one of the hardest touring rock artists, year after year, is a very exciting way for us to end 2012. A large number of us here have been fans for many years. We very much look forward to working with the band and its longstanding team,” said Victory founder Tony Brummel.
Formed in 1985, THEREVEREND HORTON HEAT exploded on the scene by playing gigs around their hometown of Dallas, Texas, mixing elements of surf, country, punk, big band and rockabilly to create a genre that took the world by storm. Often imitated, never duplicated, the Rev has continued to garner the support of both the underground rockabilly/ psychobilly scene and mainstream critics. Throughout the band’s million plus album selling career, their music has been featured in countless TV shows, movies and commercials, it’s impossible to deny the powerful force that is THE REVEREND HORTON HEAT. They continue to electrify audiences time and time again with their incredible stage presence, rock ‘n roll charisma and contagious energy.
Ready to revive a genre that’s been watered down for years,THE REVEREND HORTON HEAT have jump started their headlining STEWED, SCREWED and TATTOOED tour that will ignite over fifty-seven cities across the US this Winter and throughout 2013. Lemmy from MOTORHEAD said it best, “Reverend Horton Heat, he’s great and plays the music he believes in and nothing else. Go see him or I’ll kill you!” Prepare to rock harder than you have ever rocked before! See the full listing of tour dates here.
Watch for the announcement of THE REVEREND HORTON HEAT’s debut Victory Records release in 2013 and stay tuned for updates! Brand new t-shirt designs are currently available through the Victory Records’ webstore.

Chicago's The Bright White have organized the second annual Warm, Safe and Sound, a concert/clothing drive featuring some of the city's top bands, including co-headliners Panda Riot and openers Panther Style. The show will take place on Thursday, Dec. 20 at Schuba's Tavern at 7PM. Cover is $8 with the donation of winter gear for the needy.
Panda Riot formed in Philadelphia while Brian Cook and Rebecca Scott were working on some short films. Soundtracks turned into songs and Panda Riot was born. They picked up a drum machine, a couple of guitars, and the result was She Dares All Things, a collection of bedroom recorded songs. A move to Chicago saw the addition of Justin Cheng on Bass and Jose Rodriguez on Aux percussion. Last year they dropped the Far and Near Ep. This year they are currently working on a new record entitled Northern Automatic Music.

Comprised of four working class guys who proudly wear their hearts on their sleeves, Chicago's The Bright White debuted in 2011. Frontman Matthew James and guitarist Joe O'Leary dreamt up the concept of combining elements of power pop and post-punk months before drummer Steve Zelenko and bassist Peter Krutiak responded to a Craigslist ad for a rhythm section.
The Bright White released their second album, Lose Yourself, in the summer of 2012. They look forward to connecting with audiences who have been waiting for sing-along choruses, fist-in-the-air guitar solos and the swagger of a band who knows its best days are ahead: "The Bright White make power pop music, with the power part made bold and underlined. This is a band that sounds hungry. Starving, even. For every catchy chorus and guitar hook, there's a sense of urgency--almost a ferocity--that goes along with it to make it clear that they know exactly what they want to do." (Windy City Rock)
Highly recommended adult theatre fun! Catch this cure for the common cheer... I happen to think David Sedaris is a brilliantly funny writer. Yet, despite rave reviews, the holidays are so hectic that I've still never made it to see this show. I sincerely hope 2012 is the year. A good laugh and a bit of snark is the perfect stress release and antidote to the sugarplum sweetness of the season. Back in my theatre days, I also worked in a lead up to Santa scenario for two years, which featured a whole enchanted woods full of fairy tale characters in improv scenes. I mostly played Little RedAlicehood but subbed as the woman in the shoe, the fisherman's wife, and other scenes as needed. I met some of my lifelong friends there and also had some wacky misadventures. We walked in on "Santa" with a crack pipe in the elevator on his break....quite literally. Needless to say, he got fired. His drunken replacement kept dozing off and getting complaints from customers and disappeared entirely, without notice, after his first pay day. Someone had the brilliant idea of decorating the elves cookie kitchen set with real, colored bottles of alcohol, so the bored kitchen elves did shots during the slow times, though they were a hoot and it seemed to improve their improv if anything. Two of my children's theatre actor cohorts worked nights as male strippers and one of the women did naughty singing telegrams as "Nurse Feelgood". Even though the job was exhausting and thankless, the cast were some of the most fun and funny people I've ever had the pleasure of working with. Aside from the string of substance abuse Santas....the cast of actors was professional, and excellent. If you haven't checked out The Santaland Diaries at Theatre Wit in the past 7 years...go already. If you have...go again! Shows are selling out fast, so book your tickets now. Our holiday classic returns for it's eighth straight year, once
again starring Mitchell Fain who plays to rave reviews and sold out
houses every year. Don't miss this antidote to Christmas cheer. A
celebration of the desperation of unemployment, the insanity of
Christmas shopping and the ineffable "cheer" of the holiday spirit.
David Sedaris’ beloved account of his time in the trenches as an Elf at
Macy’s during the holiday season has been called the “24 funniest pages
ever written in the English language.”
"Drop-dead comic delivery" -- Gay Chicago
"Critic's Choice. Absolutely hilarious. Fain is charming, charismatic and graced with perfect timing" -- Windy City Times
"Darkly hilarious!" -- Chicago Tribune
